Physiotherapy (In-Clinic and Virtual Care)
At Allan McGavin Sports Medicine Centre, we believe that the foundation of successful rehabilitation is quality patient care and education. Your physiotherapist will conduct a comprehensive assessment and create a treatment plan, specific to your needs, which can include a combination of modalities, corrective exercises and hands-on therapy, while ensuring that you fully understand your injury, the causes and how it affects your body. The physiotherapist will also provide advice on how to go about your daily activities and the best approach to returning to your regular sport or activity. The collaborative approach to patient care ensures that your support, network of family, coaches and other care providers are involved in your rehabilitation process. A Telerehabilitation appointment utilizes video conferencing software to allow therapists to access and provide virtual treatment, which include but are not limited to: assessment of acute/chronic injuries, education/coaching, individualized exercise prescription/progressions/self-management, mobilization and/or monitoring.
Massage Therapy is performed by a registered massage therapist (RMT) using a variety of hands-on techniques to help alleviate pain, improve mobility and promote rehabilitation. Prior to your treatment, the massage therapist will conduct a complete assessment and diagnosis of your musculoskeletal injuries. Target tissues for massage therapy may include muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints and/or other connective tissues, as well as lymphatic vessels and/or gastrointestinal organs. If necessary, your massage therapist may also prescribe an integrated approach with our team of physiotherapists in order to promote a complete recovery. Please call our office directly at 604-904-6556 if you have an ICBC Claim that has been approved and accepted for treatment.
