Nico Berg
Nico Berg Physiotherapist, B.Sc.(PT), M.Phty Nico has a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from UBC and a Masters in Physiotherapy Studies from the University of Queensland, Australia. Before joining LVOSP, he maintained a busy sports medicine practice for amateur and professional athletes while at clinics in Whistler and Vancouver. He has trained with core rehabilitation experts, including prominent Australian physiotherapists, and with Alex McKechnie, physiotherapist for the Los Angeles Lakers and Toronto Raptors. In addition to completing many of his own professional continuing education courses, Nico has taught several clinical anatomy courses to physiotherapists. Nico gained recognition for rehabilitating elite athletes with recalcitrant pelvic injuries. He has consulted for many NFL, NBA and NHL teams as well as for professional franchises in Europe. He has taught the Hard Core Strength program to local physiotherapists, to physiotherapists of the Barclays English Premiere League (soccer) and, more recently, to the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves. Nico was also a consultant to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the areas of core strengthening, athletic performance and injury prevention for more than three seasons (2010-2014). Nico was the keynote speaker at the 2009 Hockey Injuries and Sports Medicine Conference in Boston speaking about core related injuries and strengthening. A life-long resident of North Vancouver, Nico has played soccer from age six, including years with the Vancouver 86ers/Whitecaps and with several junior national teams. Nico still enjoys being involved with soccer either as a player, or now as a coach. Nico enjoys spending his free time with his wife and three children. Nico joined LVOSP in 2002 and is now co-owner. David Harrington
David Harrington Physiotherapist, B.Sc. (PT) David graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from the University of Melbourne, Australia. David played Australian rules football for five years at the state level (Victoria state) and reached the national professional league two years in a row. After finishing his playing career, David was team Physiotherapist for Collingwood Football Association, Australia’s largest professional Australian-rules club. Prior to joining LVOSP in 2001, he traveled extensively as a working physiotherapist, including four years in London, England, where he worked in a private clinic on Harley Street, treating primarily West End musical theatre performers. David is an accomplished manual therapist with a special interest in sports- and dance-related injuries. In his free time, he enjoys sailing, cycling and skiing with his family. Steve Brannon
Steve Brannon Physiotherapist, B.Sc.(PT), B.Sc. (Hons) Steve was born and raised just east of Toronto. He attended The University of Toronto and graduated with an Honors degree in Biological Sciences in 1996, and a Bachelors degree in Physical Therapy in 2001. Steve has completed his Level 3 orthopaedic manual therapy and Functional Dry Needling/IMS training. Following graduation in 2001, Steve moved to Vancouver and worked for seven years at Vancouver’s General Hospital in outpatient orthopaedic trauma and arthritis. He has been with Lynn Valey Physiotherapy since 2008. Steve brings to our team extensive clinical experience in the management of arthritis symptoms and post-operative treatment following total hip and total knee replacement and orthopaedic trauma surgery. He has a keen interest in the management of sports related shoulder pain, knee pain and spinal related back and neck pain. Steve spends his free time with his wife and two kids and pursuing hobies such as playing and coaching hockey, ultimate frisbee, skiing, golf and soccer. V. Saranne Drew
Saranne Drew Dipl. Physical Therapy, CGIMS, Cert. Medical Acupuncture Saranne is the founder of Lynn Valley Orthopaedic and Sports Physiotherapy. Saranne graduated from the Bath School of Physiotherapy in England in 1976 and practiced physiotherapy in Britain and Switzerland, treating mostly ski injuries. She came to Vancouver in 1980 and worked at the then-Workers’ Compensation Board before purchasing a Oakridge Orthopaedic & Sports Physiotherapy clinic in Vancouver . After making this clinic a success, Saranne started LVOSP from scratch. Her vision was to have an on-site gym where patients could do rehab exercises while being overseen by physiotherapists. The rest, as they say, is history. Saranne has a Certificate in Medical Acupuncture from McMaster University. She has completed over 80 professional continuing education courses on topics such as manual therapy of the spine and peripheral joints, and on rehabilitation exercise. She has also completed courses on the sacroiliac joint, on muscle imbalance, and on exercise for osteoporosis. Saranne recently completed a course about women’s health and acupuncture. Saranne combines her extensive knowledge in the treatment of her patients. She enjoys finding the source of the problem For a number of years, Saranne was a keen parent at her children’s soccer, basketball, and field hockey games, often treating injuries to the players on the various teams. She now has time to re-ignite her earlier passions for cycling and hiking. Erin Browning
Erin Browning Physiotherapist, B.Sc(Kin), M.Sc(PT), CAFCI, FCAMT Erin has a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from SFU and a Masters of Science in Physiotherapy from McMaster University graduating in 2003. She has an Advanced Diploma of Manual and Manipulative Therapy from the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapy and is certified to practice acupuncture by the Canadian Acupuncture Foundation Institute. As a physiotherapist, Erin has worked with varsity athletes in numerous competitive sports, including rugby, track and field, wrestling, soccer, and softball. She has also worked with many patients recovering from MVAs, work related injuries and various musculoskeletal issues. Erin has worked at LVOSP since 2007. With each of her clients, Erin provides an individualized approach using a combination of hands-on techniques, acupuncture or other appropriate modalities, education and exercise prescription. She uses real-time ultrasound to help her patients visualize and correctly use their deep abdominal muscles. Such core stability retraining is especially valuable for post-partum patients, and for those who are recovering from low back or pelvic injuries. A lifetime resident of Lynn Valley, Erin went to Lynn Valley Elementary and Argyle Secondary. She has enjoyed many sports including track and field, swimming, soccer, volleyball, basketball, softball, kayaking, snowshoeing, running, yoga and dance. She now finds most of her hobbies involve her busy family with her husband and three kids. She looks forward to working with you and your family! Lora Mezzarobba
Lora Mezzarobba Physiotherapist, B.Sc.(PT), FCAMT, CGIMS Lora has a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiotherapy from the University of British Columbia and has been working at LVOSP since 1999. She has completed post-graduate courses in Craniosacral Therapy, exercise for individuals with osteoporosis, pre- and post-natal exercise, and Pilates. Lora has an Advanced Diploma of Manual and Manipulative Therapy (FCAMT) and is a Certified Gunn IMS practitioner (CGIMS). This broad training and expertise enable Lora to design highly individualized rehabilitation programs for her clients that combine hands-on treatment with education and instruction in a variety of exercises. Lora swam competitively while growing up in Vancouver and now enjoys time in the local mountains skiing, snowboarding and hiking. Mark Robins
Mark Robins Doctorate in Physical Therapy Mark graduated with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Eastern Washington University in the U.S. He has worked in private practice orthopaedics as well as occupational rehab/chronic pain clinics. Mark has received advanced training from the McKenzie Institute for mechanical diagnosis and treatment of all areas of the spine (with an emphasis on neck and low back pain), continuing education in Functional Dry Needling/IMS, Mulligan mobilization with movement, along with focused courses on shoulder and knee rehabilitation to promote a return to pain-free function. He has extensive experience with all areas of peripheral joint dysfunction including providing pre- and post-surgical Physiotherapy, and he has a strong interest in shoulder, knee, and ankle diagnostics and treatment. In addition, Mark is trained to perform custom bike fittings to help decrease cycling related injuries and improve biomechanics to maximize comfort, efficiency, and performance. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, cycling, snowboarding, and playing tennis. Kevin Cliff
Kevin Cliff Physiotherapist, B.Sc.(HK), B.Sc.(PT) Kevin completed his Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy and his Bachelor of Human Kinetics at the University of British Columbia. He has been working as a physiotherapist for 13 years the majority of which has been spent here on the North Shore. He has completed all of the manual therapy levels in the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. His approach to physiotherapy involves a thorough assessment of the problem followed by treatment that combines manual therapy techniques and an exercise program designed specifically for that patient. He enjoys analyzing the movements involved in all sports and applies his knowledge of anatomy and biomechanics to help patients work through their injuries as fast as possible. Kevin was born and raised on the North Shore where he grew up playing hockey and baseball. He played Junior Varsity Hockey for UBC and competed in the Provincial Championships for baseball. He continued on with his hockey career as a linesman in the WHL for 4 years before returning to school to study physiotherapy. Currently, he loves spending time with his wife and children and stays active playing hockey, skiing, running, and weight training. Chelsea Windl
Chelsea Windl Physiotherapist, B.Sc (Kin), M.Sc (PT) Chelsea completed her Masters of Physiotherapy at Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland after completing her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University. She continues to improve her skills and knowledge through ongoing mentorship, regular research review, and pursuing her manual therapy levels. Chelsea takes an evidence-based approach to treatment, combining manual therapy, exercise and education in order to help clients achieve their individual goals. Chelsea grew up in Burnaby competing in martial arts and playing rugby. These days Chelsea enjoys spending the winter months snowboarding as much as possible, and the off-season training alongside her mom for 10k and ½ marathon races.
Kayla Hertendy
Kayla Hertendy Physiotherapist, BHSc, MSc (PT) Kayla earned her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from Queen's University, after graduating from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelors of Health Sciences. Since graduation, Kayla has continued her ongoing education in the areas of functional movement analysis and management of the lumbar spine. She is now working towards obtaining her Manual Therapy Levels within the Diploma of Advanced Orthpaedic Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy. Drawing from her clinical experience with neurological and orthopaedic populations in acute hospital settings, including the LGH Joint Replacement Program, Kayla has developed a deep understanding of the continuum of care, and continues to be inspired by the resiliency of the human body. Kayla's approach to physiotherapy is guided by current research, clinical experiences and each individual's context. Her individualised treatment plans integrate manual therapy, exercise prescription, trigger point release, and movement re-education to restore full, pain-free function. Whether the goal is to return to work, sport or leisure, Kayla aims to motivate and to provide the tools necessary for clients to play an active role in their recovery journey. Outside of the clinic Kayla keeps active at the gym, on the beach -- enjoying open water swimming, scuba diving or surfing, or cultivating one of her many creative hobbies. Karly Stevenson
Karly has a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from the University of Queensland, Australia. She also has a Masters in Sport and Exercise Medicine from Ulster University in Northern Ireland. Karly specializes in functional rehab and manual therapy, and she focuses on incorporating appropriate exercises and recovery plans based on the patient's sport, work, and family lifestyle. Karly has worked with various teams in Australia, England, and most recently Northern Ireland. The professional athletes and teams that Karly has worked with include the Irish National Swim team, the Irish National Men's Field Hockey team, and the Irish National Rowing Team, all posing strong performance results with treatment. Karly's career has led her to explore incredible parts of the world, but she is grateful to be returning home to her native BC to reunite her family, and to raise her 3 kids near their grandparents. Andrea Lee
Andrea Lee Physiotherapist, MSc, MPT Andrea completed her Masters of Physical Therapy degree at the University of British Columbia. She also holds Bachelor of Science (Biology) and Master of Science (Kinesiology) degrees from Lakehead University and Michigan Technological University respectively. Andrea works with her clients to help them reach their goals through a combination of active rehabilitation, manual therapy, and education. Her previous work experience includes working with post-surgical patients including total hip/knee/shoulder replacements and orthopedic trauma at Lions Gate Hospital. She is working on completing Orthopedic Manual Training levels through the orthopedic division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. Andrea enjoys the outdoor lifestyle on the North Shore, and spends her free time exploring the mountains - skiing, mountain biking, trail running. Coming from a competitive sport background in nordic skiing, she now keeps herself busy by competing in road and trail running. Nicholas Wong
Nicholas (Nick) Wong Registered Massage Therapist Nicholas was born and raised on the North Shore and graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 2016. Through patient communication, Nicholas likes to find a balance between his patient’s needs and wants as steps towards an individualized and effective treatment. Nicholas thrives on utilizing many techniques with a variety of patients, but has a specific interest in injury rehabilitation and pain management. Nicholas is also a firm believer that home care and patient education are important steps towards improving health and a successful recovery process. Outside of work, Nicholas enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He also loves to travel and is always thinking about his next adventure.
