Dr. Allana Polo has a great passion for naturopathic medicine and truly believes that we all have the ability to heal and achieve balance in our lives. Along with a complete physical exam, family history and relevant lab work, Dr. Polo uses nutrition, herbal medicine, acupuncture, intravenous vitamins/minerals and lifestyle counselling to help her patients achieve optimal health and wellness. By identifying the root cause of illness, each treatment plan is customized and tailored to meet each individual patient's needs, based on their health goals and place in their own healing journey. Her goal is to empower, inspire and motivate her patients to achieve their highest level of wellness. 

Dr. Polo's focus is on family medicine with a special interest in, weight loss, food sensitivities and digestive health, mesotherapy for anti-aging and cellulite reduction, metabolic concerns such as diabetes, and mental health including anxiety and depression. 

Dr. Polo received her undergraduate training from the University of Alberta, majoring in biological sciences with a minor in psychology. She then received her Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, Ontario, an accredited four-year, intensive post-graduate naturopathic medical program. The training consists of comprehensive study of the conventional medical sciences, as well as a detailed study of a wide variety of natural therapies. 

She has pursued additional specialized training and is also a certified practitioner in intravenous vitamin and mineral therapy, mesotherapy for cosmetic non-surgical facial rejuvenation and body sculpting, dermal fillers, mesotherapy for pain management, and applied kinesiology. 

Dr. Polo spent 6 weeks travelling in India, working at clinical rotation sites and volunteering at a variety of medical hospitals and naturopathic facilities. This allowed her the opportunity to learn about the traditional and indigenous systems of medicine in India. In addition to learning about traditional medicine, she was able to observe how these practices interact with Western methods and gain an understanding of the importance of cross-cultural competency in diagnosing patients who may be receiving a combination of modern and traditional treatments. Clinical immersion was supplemented with daily yoga classes, lectures and workshops on traditional medicine. This experience provided her the opportunity to learn more about health issues that transcend borders, class, ethnicity, and cultural divisions. 

In 2003, Dr. Polo received her first degree black belt in Karate, after 13 years of dedicated and disciplined training. The strength and determination, as well as the mind-body connection this art facilitates, is something she will always bring forth to her patients and clinical practice. 

Dr. Polo is a registrant of the College of Naturopathic Physicians of British Columbia and a member of the British Columbia Naturopathic Association (BCNA), The Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors(CAND), and the International Association for Physicians in Aesthetic Medicine (IAPAM).

I was born and raised in Langley, BC where my early years were spent engaging in a wide variety of sports. My passion for Football landed me a scholarship to Simon Fraser University where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. Following University, I went onto pursue my Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from the Boucher Institute in New Westminster.
 
I was first introduced to Naturopathic Medicine through my own health challenges. Many hard years on the field and in the gym left me with a whole host of left over injuries. I struggled with chronic pain for a long time and slowly began to accept the fact I would be stuck suffering for years to come.
 
Then, everything I knew about medicine was blown wide open when I reversed all my injuries within two years using Naturopathic Medicine. As soon as I realized people didn't have to live in pain my vision became clear. I set out on my journey to learn as much as I could about these valuable treatment techniques and spread the word about the options available to people in need. I am committed to helping you reach your health goals the same way my doctor helped me.
 
In addition to my Bachelor of Science and Naturopathic Physician designations I am also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and an active member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association. I have extensive work experience with sports specific training, musculoskeletal injuries and rehabilitation protocols. For the past several years I have worked alongside Chiropractors, Massage Therapists, and Naturopathic Doctors completing several internships centered on helping patients with weight loss, pain management and nutritional programming. After my first year of medical school, I completed a 10-day intensive in Nicaragua working at a local clinic that services the residents on the Island of Ometepe.
 
I am also a part time faculty member at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine where I teach Exercise Therapeutics and assist with the Physical Medicine and Spinal Manipulation classes. I have undergone continuing education training in Prolotherapy, Applied Kinesiology, Total Body Modification (TBM) and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).

Anybody who knows me knows I love to help people. I was raised on a farm in central BCs Cariboo district. This is where I learned many of the values and skills I use as resources every day - problem solving, the power of the natural world, the value of hard work and perseverance (to name a few). My life's journey prior to naturopathic medicine included forays into a wide diversity of fields; from cancer research to delivery driver, from the ancient craft of timber-framing to biotechnology, from production labourer to high-rise tower design. It is this broad spectrum of experience that allows me to have some insight into most of my patient's daily lives: the struggles and inspirations inherent to them.

It was my role as a parent that truly led me into naturopathic medicine. As a young man holding my own children, I felt overwhelmed with responsibility. I wanted to do as much as possible to support my sons as they grew. I learned about health and treatments that were not part of the mainstream medical model; I became impassioned. I could not learn enough; I knew I had found my calling. My road to ultimately practicing naturopathic medicine was long and convoluted. Balancing family life and getting an education was certainly an enormous challenge. With the seemingly unending support of my wife Laura, I managed to earn a degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry from UNBC, a MSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences from UBC and, finally, a Naturopathic Doctorate from Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine.
I could not be happier with my career choice. Every day I feel fortunate to spend time with my patients who are reaching ever higher levels of health. Whether it is a child who has had their eczema clear up, a woman who has restored energy, or a man who no longer has the chronic back pain that he has been suffering from; it feels fantastic to know that I have helped achieve a new-found health. I treat people with many different conditions; if you are interested in reaching new heights in your life or staying at your optimal health, come in for an assessment.

I have specialized training in prolotherapy: an injection-based therapy that targets chronic joint injuries and which can lead to complete healing (joints are often stronger than they ever were). No matter what area pains you, I have had success treating it; from headaches to plantar fasciitis. Whether you are just trying to go for a hike or are playing professional sports, I have helped someone get through a similar situation. Don't go on living with the pain!
A second focus I have had great success treating in my practice is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. I have seen dramatic shifts in both adults and children who have this challenge. The great part of treating children is they heal so quickly. Adults take longer to come around, but I have seen amazing improvements in behaviour and performance in them as well. There is much more that can be done than the simplistic idea that people diagnosed with ADHD need to be medicated to live functional lives.

Working in the forefront of functional, individualized medicine is something that I feel very privileged to provide for my patients. Even if your needs are outside of the areas mentioned above, the principles are the same: you can be helped. Dr. Safia Kassam is a licensed Naturopathic Physician certified in intravenous therapy, Bowen therapy, acupuncture, and holds pharmaceutical prescription rights in BC. At present, Dr. Kassam has a focus in digestive disorders, including SIBO, as well as hormone imbalances, and weight management. Dr. Kassam is a professional member of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND) and BC Naturopathic Physicians Association (BCNA).

Dr. Kassam graduated from Simon Fraser University in 2006 with a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology.  During this time, she also completed five terms with the Cooperative Education Department as an Ergonomic Engineering Consultant in Michigan, with the designation of a Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE).  Although this career was very rewarding, Dr. Kassam knew her true calling was in the field of medicine.

In 2009, Dr. Kassam returned back home to BC to pursue a career in Naturopathic Medicine.  During the intense 4-year program at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine, she was also a part of Naturopathic Doctors International (NDI), a brigade providing free Naturopathic care to residents of a small town on Ometepe Island in Nicaragua.  Using local medicinals as well as acupuncture, massage, and counseling, this brigade delivered naturopathic care to over 150 residents, from newborns to the elderly. Conditions treated ranged from joint pain, gastrointestinal conditions, emotional trauma, and gynecological concerns requiring pelvic exams.

Dr. Kassam is a sports enthusiast. She grew up playing competitive fastpitch softball, floor hockey, and basketball and is an avid Vancouver Canucks and Seattle Seahawks fan.  She also enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephews, and traveling.

As a licensed naturopathic doctor, I am passionate about supporting my patients in addressing all of their health concerns in a holistic way. I received my certification from the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine, and am certified in intravenous therapy, bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) and acupuncture as well as holding prescription rights.

Before attending medical school I achieved my bachelor of science from SFU in molecular biology and biochemistry. During this time I was involved in research which focused on neurodegenerative diseases (Including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, frontotemporal dementia). As a result of this work I received multiple scholarships and have been published on several research papers. After working in a research lab for three years I realized that my true calling was working one-on-one with people to address their individual health concerns. I truly feel that this experience has contributed to my appreciation for ensuring my patients receive evidence-based treatment plans.

Biography
Dr. Mawji is a sought after speaker around the lower mainland (Vancouver, BC) on conditions including: hormonal dysfunction, immune support, stress management, and healthy lifestyle habits. She takes part in a number of corporate wellness initiatives for some of Canada's leading banks and has contributed to a range of public health initiatives over the last 10 years both in Canada and Internationally. She was the nutrition lead for a two year Health Canada study investigating dietary and lifestyle interventions on cardiovascular markers in the South Asian population and continues to stay active in public health initiatives. This has given her the opportunity to work with many health care providers, in different areas of health focusing on hormones, anti-aging medicine, metabolic dysfunction including diabetes, cardiovascular improvement and mental health.

During her undergraduate degree at the University of British Columbia, Dr. Mawji worked alongside a Functional Medical Doctor, in a private health setting, to optimize patient care. This is where her exposure to Functional Medicine began. She worked with this Physician for two years, and was exposed to a side of health care that merged western and eastern philosophy. This is where her enthusiasm for lifestyle medicine, innovative testing, and evaluating symptoms further, sparked her desire to learn more. She observed improvements in patient care, the power of a positive physician-patient relationship and became exposed to the world of hormones, heavy metal testing and anti-aging medicine. This motivated her to become a Naturopathic Doctor; individualized medicine, patient centred care, and looking beyond a diagnoses.

Dr. Mawji is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor who graduated from the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine. She has additional training and is certified in IV therapy, Cosmetic Acupuncture, Prescription authority and Visual Homeopathy. Dr. Mawji graduated from the University of British Columbia with an Honours degree in Bachelors of Science in Food, Nutrition and Health. During her time at Boucher, she was a teaching assistant for Physical Medicine and Clinical Diagnoses, supporting the learning of other students. Currently, she is a Professional Educator for Natures Way of Canada, and has been involved with a number of supplement companies, educating health care professionals, students and the public on nutrients.

Dr. Heather holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Victoria and a Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine. She has a focus in Pain and Injury Management, Regenerative Injection Therapies and Aesthetic Medicine.

As a former member of the Canadian Junior National Rowing Team, and Captain of the UVic Women’s Rowing Team, she understands the importance of physical health, injury prevention/recovery, nutrition, training and hormone balancing. Dr. Heather now uses that same drive and leadership ability to help support her patients in achieving their health goals.

Dr. Heather has volunteered with Naturopathic Doctors International (NDI) in Nicaragua to help provide Naturopathic care and treatment to under-privileged locals who do not normally have access to medical care.

Catherine is a graduate of the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in Toronto, ON. Coming from a therapy-based background, her main goal is to promote health and injury prevention for all her clients. Catherine develops individual treatment plans after assessing a client's health history. Through strong communication, Catherine gives her clients therapeutic exercises and education to extend the effectiveness of her treatments. She has treated patients with chronic pain, pregnancy, children who are in competitive sports, and individuals who are simply 'stressed out'. She has worked in a multidisciplinary clinic alongside health practitioners who shared her belief in holistic and client centric approach. She specializes in a unique style of Swedish as well as deep tissue massage and as well as hot stone massage.

Dr Galstyan is a practicing family doctor in north shore. She has a special interest in procedural and cosmetic dermatology such as Botox injections and mole removals. 
She is motivated by getting optimal results for her cosmetic patients through personalized care. 

Dr Galstyan completed her Family Medicine residency training at university of British Columbia and Botox training of the BC Academy of Medical Aesthetics & Skin Care.

Harman began her semi-permanent makeup journey back in 2019. She started with microblading and fell in love with the art of semi-permanent tattoo makeup! After 1 year of focusing on perfecting her microblading technique, she decided to expand her skill set to include lip tattoo services. 

Creating positive and meaningful connections with her clients and having the opportunity to help people feel the best about themselves is what continues to fuel her passion. Her signature techniques are meant to deliver a soft natural look that will complement and enhance your facial features. 

I graduated from Medical school in 1996 from the University of Alberta. Completed my residency in Family Medicine in 1998 at the University of Alberta. Practiced as a Family Physician for two years in Strathmore, Alberta. Went to the University of Calgary in 2000 to complete my residency in Emergency Medicine. Practiced as an Emergency Physician for 14 years in Abbotsford and Surrey. Medical Director with BC Emergency Health Services for the last 4 years. I am trained and teach Emergency Department Ultrasound. Certified in Botox and dermal filler injections. Currently completing a fellowship in Anti-aging Regenerative and Functional Medicine.

Sukhi Uppal graduated from Bastyr University in WA with Masters in Acupuncture. Sukhi has been practicing acupuncture for last 20 years.  She worked with various Community Health Centers helping most vulnerable population suffering with HIV and Addictions. She has dedicated last 11 years in addictions and mental health. Sukhi is licensed with College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncturist of British Columbia in good standing. She is passionate about every patient and listens deeply to their needs so that she could provide long-term well-being. Sukhi believes in working with vital Qi (energy) to initiate the process of self-healing instead of eliminating just the symptoms. She believes in symptoms coming from within and are altered with diet, stress and anxiety..She specializes in Addictions (mental health), Cosmetic Acupuncture, Fertility and Sports Medicine. 
Sukhi offer her services in acupuncture, Tui Na Therapy (Chinese Massage), cupping, moxibustion, scraping.  She also offers dietary advice depending on the constitution of the patient.
She is passionate about animals and worked alongside Veterinarian in WA treating Cats and Dogs for chronic pain and Anxiety.

Sudip Virk is a certified medical aesthetician and medical laser technician that has over 10 years of experience working in clinics and spas across the lower mainland. Her breadth of experience allows her to perform a multitude of skin treatments and consultations and her depth in the field has made her a sought after instructor for new-coming students of the field. She strives to achieve long-lasting results for her clients and believes in the benefits of naturopathy.
